Wildlife of Mexico: Part 1

Canyon, means massive in Spanish, and so was the Sumidero Canyon. One cliff face was 3000 ft. We raced through the entire 35 km length in a motorboat which stopped every time there was a croc, monkey or eagle on view (otherwise I rather doubt I'd get so close to a crocodile). At the far end we realised why the canyon floor was submerged - there's a hydroelectric dam.

This is the view as you enter the canyon from the south. We encountered the crocodile on the right hand side of the canyon as you enter.







And from the largest to the smallest.... these specimens were snapped on the bathroom walls of the seaside house (left) and the cabin at the lakes of Monte Bello (right). If you look carefully at the one on the left (double click on the image) it's not a spider as it has six legs with two strange whip like tendrils.
